Head Start and state-funded programs where the DRDP is approved are able to meet their assessment rating and reporting requirements in Educa.

For centers using the ELOF, Educa has the ELOF-D, which has an automatic alignment to the DRDP in the background. For centers using the DRDP, Educa has several DRDP views available.

The DRDP Ratings tool sits outside the learning story workflow. Educators write learning stories and link to their frameworks of choice and this link auto populates the DRDP ratings tool. This enables you to remain focused on the story, the rating work is done for you.

In the DRDP Ratings tool, where learning stories become evidence to support the outcomes selected.

Then at period ends, educators can go into the Ratings tool and finish off their ratings. Their stories auto-populate as evidence supporting measure outcomes, with measures that have no evidence appearing in light orange. Educators then manually complete their DRDP assessment, using the unrated hover indicators as their guide.

Here is the process:

  • Link to the DRDP from learning stories
  • Add observations to unrated measures in Ratings tool
  • Export excel data to DRDP Online, PDF reports for families

Set Up Steps for Admins

  • Enable required DRDP views under Frameworks - so that they will be visible in learning stories
  • Select "Default" view - click Settings on Ratings home page
  • Set rating periods on Settings page - Educa supports multiple and over-lapping periods
  • Set number of evidence items required, defaulted to 1
  • At period end, use "Export" on Ratings home page to export by class and view type

Individual Child Ratings

Click to the child's rating from the Ratings page or from the child's profile navigation.

Unmeasured ratings are highlighted - these are measure rows to which no learning story has been linked. To add an observation either click the measure label to see all outcomes in detail or click on the outcome you want.

To complete required background information for the child, click "Edit Rating Info," This information will be included in any data exports.

The PDF button produces a parent-friendly report for the DRDP view and period selected. This supplements learning stories.

The DRDP view can be changed from the default for an individual child using the selector at the top of the child's Ratings page.

What date is for learning story evidence?

Educa uses the learning story date, the "when it happened" date for populating ratings. This date can be changed by story editors.

Why am I seeing no periods?

If the default period is not showing, go to "Settings" on the Ratings home page and either select an existing period or add a new period using the date selectors.

Where do the Export reports go?

These excel data reports download to your computer immediately. And so please check your Downloads folder.

Does Ratings work for other frameworks?

No. The DRDP is a valid and reliable assessment framework, where the integrity of the reporting requires rigorous completion of each measure. Most other frameworks are curriculum guides or learning goal frameworks, they are not assessments.

Why can't I see the DRDP view option I need in the Ratings dropdown?

Educa offers Ratings for Preschool Essential, Fundamental and Comprehensive View and for Infant/Toddler Essential. If you do not see your required profile available for linking in stories or in Ratings, it will be because it first needs to be enabled on the Frameworks page (under Tools) by a site Admin.

Should I use the ELOF-D?

This configuration works for centers wanting to link Learning Stories to the ELOF, but need to file an authentic assessment using the DRDP. The ELOF-D aligns to the DRDP Preschool Fundamental View. Both need to be activated in Frameworks.
