In the middle of teaching, it's common to get pulled away mid-edit. Educa helps you protect every observation, story, or post with two safety nets: manual Drafts and Auto-Save.

Follow these steps to make sure your work is always safe and easy to recover.

1. Start a Draft

  1. Go to your dashboard and click Create Story, New Post, or New Plan.

  2. Add a Title (e.g., "Emma’s Sand Exploration").

  3. Write your content – bullet points or paragraphs are fine.

  4. Upload images by clicking the Add Media button.

💡 Even if you’re not finished, adding a title and saving gives you a clear anchor for your drafts.

2. Save as Draft (Manual Save)

  • Click the Draft button at the bottom of the editor.

  • Your content is now saved under Stories → Drafts or Message Board → Drafts.

💡 We recommend clicking Draft manually before taking a break - it's just one click and ensures your work is locked in.

3. Auto-Save & Restore

Educa also backs you up automatically while you're working.

What Auto-Save Does:

  • Runs in the background every 30 seconds.

  • Captures any changes to text or formatting.

  • Stores a temporary in-progress version of your content.

How to Restore a Previous Version using Auto-Save:

  1. Reopen the same story or post. The Restore button is on the left of the toolbar

  2. Click Restore to access previous versions of your work.

⚠️ Auto-Save works only during an active session. Always use save Draft to preserve content long-term.

4. Return, Edit & Publish

  1. Find your draft

    • Go to Stories (or Posts) → Drafts.

  2. Open and edit

    • Click any draft to re-open it in the editor.

    • Make your updates: add text, images, formatting.

  3. Save or publish

    • Click Save Draft again if you’re still refining.

    • When it’s ready, click Publish to share with families or Submit for Approval to send the story to your approver.

FAQs

Can I create multiple drafts of the same story?
No. Each time you save the same story as Draft, it overwrites the current version.

What happens if I lose internet connection?
Auto-Save will retry once you’re back online. You can also continue working and click Draft when reconnected.

Where can I see all my drafts?
Go to Stories → Drafts or Posts → Drafts from the left-hand menu.
