Family Comments and Who Sees Them

Understand who can see family comments, teacher replies, and story Thanks in Educa.

Written by Educa

Stories, plans, Message Board posts, Policies, and Resources can help families and teachers stay connected. Comments make these updates more interactive by giving families a way to respond, ask questions, and share feedback.

When a family member comments, linked teachers receive an Inbox notification and email. This helps teachers respond and keep the conversation going.

Who can see family comments?

Comment visibility depends on where the comment is added.

Where the comment is added

Who can see it

Individual Story

The child’s family members and linked teachers

Group Story

Only the commenting family member’s connected family and linked teachers. Other families included in the Group Story cannot see the comment

Message Board post

All families and teachers who can see the post

Individual Plan

The child’s family members and linked teachers

Group Plan

All families connected to the plan and linked teachers

Policies and Resources

All families and teachers at your centre

Note: Teacher replies follow the same visibility rules as the family comment they reply to.

For example, a teacher reply on an Individual Story or Group Story remains visible only to the relevant family and linked teachers. A teacher reply on a Message Board comment is visible to everyone who can see the original Message Board post.

Message Board comment moderation

Message Board authors can choose to moderate comments before they appear.

When moderation is turned on, comments need to be approved before other users can see them.
