Student Users can create their own stories in Educa to record their learning, link their work to goals and frameworks, and share it with their family.
All stories created by Student Users must be approved by a teacher before they are published.
How student story approval works
The basic workflow is:
The student creates a story.
The student adds supporting work and links to goals or frameworks where relevant.
The student selects Submit for Approval.
A reviewing teacher approves the story or returns it for Rework.
Once approved, the story is published and shared with the student's family.
Create and submit a story
Students need to be logged into their Student User account before they can create a story.
When creating a story, students can:
Add text about their learning or activity.
Add photos, videos or files.
Link the story to their goals.
Link the story to relevant frameworks.
Select a Group where appropriate.
Choosing a Group
If the story relates to a particular group or subject, select the relevant Group.
If the story should go to the student's usual class teacher for approval, leave the Group blank.
Note: If a story does not appear for the expected teacher, check whether the student selected a Group when creating it.
Save or submit the story
When the story is ready, the student can:
Draft – Save the story without submitting it. The student and their teacher can access it again from Draft Stories.
Submit for Approval – Send the story to the reviewing teacher.
After a story is submitted for approval, the student cannot edit it until it is approved or returned for Rework.
Review a student story
Teachers receive an email notification when a student submits a story for approval.
Go to Pending Stories to see stories waiting for review.
From here, you can:
Approve – Publish the story and share it with the student's family.
Rework – Return the story to the student so they can make changes.
Edit – Open the full story to review or edit it before making a decision.
You can also leave feedback for the student when approving or returning their story.
Return a story for Rework
Choose Rework when you want the student to make changes before the story is published.
Add a comment explaining what you would like them to review or change.
The story returns to the student's Draft Stories. The student can:
Open the story and read your feedback.
Edit the story.
Respond to your feedback if needed.
Select Submit for Approval again.
The story returns to the teacher for another review.
Approve a story
Select Approve when the story is ready to publish.
Once approved, the story is published and can be shared with the student's family.
