In this article, you’ll discover simple ways to paste text as plain text in Educa across desktop and mobile devices. Stripping out external formatting ensures you have full flexibility to apply styles, layouts and colours directly in our editor.

Why paste as plain text?

When you copy content from elsewhere, like websites, emails or other parts of Educa, hidden formatting can interfere with the editor. Pasting as plain text helps you:

  • Remove inconsistent fonts and sizes, so you can choose your own

  • Clear unwanted colours or backgrounds, ensuring a clean canvas

  • Prevent layout glitches, letting you apply tables, lists and other features smoothly

Keeping formatting under your control means you can leverage every editing tool Educa offers — unlocking consistent, professional-looking content.

Windows

Option 1: Context menu

  1. Copy your text (Ctrl+C).

  2. In Educa’s editor, right-click and choose Paste as plain text (or Paste and match style).

Option 2: Keyboard shortcut

  1. Copy your text (Ctrl+C).

  2. Place your cursor in the editor and press Ctrl+Shift+V.

  2. In the editor, press ⌘+Option+Shift+V.

Note: If your browser lacks that shortcut, use the right‑click menu or the intermediary method below.

iOS (iPad & iPhone)

  1. Copy text in any app.

  2. Tap the Educa editor to set the cursor.

  3. Long‑press and select Paste and Match Style.

Tip: If you don’t see a plain-text option, paste into Notes first, then copy from Notes into Educa.

Android

  2. Tap the editor and long‑press until the paste menu appears.

  3. Select Paste as plain text (or tap the clipboard icon and choose the plain-text entry).

Tip: If that option is unavailable, use the intermediary method below.

Fallback: Plain‑text intermediary (all devices)

If your browser or device doesn’t support the above, strip formatting anywhere by:

  1. Pasting into a basic text app (Notepad on Windows, TextEdit in Plain Text on Mac, or any simple notes app on mobile).

  2. Selecting all (Ctrl+A / ⌘+A or tap + Select All) and copying again.

  3. Pasting into Educa (Ctrl+V / ⌘+V or tap + Paste).

This two-step process strips out all formatting.

Removing formatting after pasting

If you’ve already pasted formatted text, you can strip styles without re-pasting:

  1. Select the text in Educa.

  2. Click the Clear formatting (eraser) icon in the toolbar—or use:

    • Windows/Linux: Ctrl+\

    • Mac: ⌘+

  3. The text will revert to plain, ready for you to reapply Educa’s styles.

Note: Clearing formatting affects only the selected text. To reset an entire block, ensure all text is selected before you clear.
